The Best Laid Plans....

I am trying to get ready for my first show at the local library which is to be held during the month of June. I gave myself till April as the last month that I could keep painting for the show-both new works and finishing touches and editing old ones. May, I am telling myself will be the month for framing and putting finishing touches on this blog, ordering business cards, creating an artist statement etc. I thought 8 months or so to prepare for a show would be plenty of time...I was wrong. On one hand, I've been incredibly productive in the painting arena but life continues to interrupt. Parental issues, a sick brother, a summer wedding reception in our backyard, a child still at home looking for a job, a kitchen reno, and a husband back to work at a new job after being unemployed for eight months....Phew! But hey, the husband has a new job so I get my kitchen reno in time for the daughter's summer wedding.  The brother is on the mend and the parents, well, parents will be parents. So here are the projects I've been starting or working on. Enjoy!
So here's the backdrop of one of my projects. Hopefully it will be ready by June.

I think this one is finally finished but I think I will have to rename it. I especially like it in natural lighting.

This one I like the background but I think the tree in the foreground is too big. I think I will paint it out and make a new smaller tree.

Was working on her today. Wasn't quite the face I was going for . I think she is judging me. Definitely older than I thought she would be... Not done. More judging me I think.

I really didn't like this when it was a normal tree. It was sooo boring in green and brown. So I decided to mess it up. Daughter #3 calls it a cotton candy tree. I like it.

A new background for a painting. I am thinking a blond lady. Don't know where I am going with this.

Same thing except for the blond lady. Maybe a mermaid with black hair?
